Elon Musk’s estrangement from his transgender daughter, Vivian Wilson, has come under fresh scrutiny after his former wife, Justine Wilson, alleged that the billionaire cancelled their daughter’s health insurance just a day after promising to always love her.
Justine made the claims in the upcoming documentary *Musk*, describing the emotional toll of the rift between the technology mogul and Vivian, who has publicly distanced herself from her father.
According to Justine, Vivian was deeply hurt when Musk publicly claimed he had lost his daughter to the “woke mind virus”, a remark she said revealed his attitude towards her transition. “Elon was telling her, through telling the world, what that point of view actually was. And Elon never tried to repair things, that’s not in his nature,” Justine said.
She further alleged that Musk, after Vivian came out as transgender, asked her to convey a message of love to their daughter, telling her, “I’ll always love her”.
However, Justine claimed that the gesture was followed by a starkly different action the next day, when Musk cancelled Vivian’s health insurance.
The allegations offer another glimpse into the bitter family estrangement that has unfolded partly in public, with Vivian having dropped her father’s surname several years ago.
Vivian has also recently appeared in a series of advertisements critical of artificial intelligence, delivering a pointed message: “Some things aren't meant to be fixed.”
The latest claims are likely to renew attention on the fractured relationship between Musk and his daughter, as Justine’s account raises questions about the gap between the message of affection she says he wanted conveyed and the subsequent insurance decision she alleges he made.
