Following the intense public backlash over a viral video showing youths chanting threats of violence against Christians in Enugu and Jos, Northern Christian Association (NCA) Chairman, Rev. John Joseph Hayab, has expressed relief and optimism.

The viral controversy surrounding a widely circulated social media video—which featured young individuals chanting extremist slogans and calling for violent attacks during worship services in cities like Enugu and Jos—has triggered a unified national rejection.

While Christian leaders, including the NCA and the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), immediately called on security agencies such as the DSS and the police to thoroughly investigate the footage, interfaith reactions have taken a deeply encouraging turn.

Rev. John Joseph Hayab highlighted the powerful response from the Muslim community, noting that numerous Islamic organizations and prominent clerics have openly dissociated themselves from the video's contents. By loudly condemning the dangerous rhetoric, these groups have sought to thwart any potential religious friction and preserve peaceful coexistence.

“What a barbaric way of doing things! Both Christians and Muslims should embrace the moral responsibility of training their children,”

Rev. Hayab had earlier remarked, emphasizing the shared duty of religious leaders to guard against youth indoctrination.

The swift, cross-religious condemnation has been widely praised by peace advocates as a vital shield against sectarian division, proving that mainstream faith leaders across Nigeria remain heavily committed to national unity over extremist provocations.
